We had a family room, which is quite simple. But that's not important because if you come to oyster bay, you have to stay at the beach. It's a bit comparable to the beaches of St. Lucia (ZA) but the dunes are much nicer (yes, the water is much colder).
The lodge has a lot of horses an offers horse riding for beginners and experienced riders. That is really an experience and should be reason enough to come there.
The breakfast is really nice and our dinner was very good, for a reasonable price.
If you go there, you have to stay at least 2 nights.
Our family loved every moment of our stay at Oyster Bay. The staff went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable and the food was wonderful and the bay is just out of this world. My husband has been all over the world and he said it is the most beautiful beach he has seen. The location is perfect, and we will go back.
My boyfriend and I recently stayed at this lodge.
From the moment of our arrival, the attentive and friendly staff went out of their way to make our stay an unforgettable and wonderful experience.
I had mentioned in my reservation e mail that I would be celebrating a "milestone" birthday on the date of our arrival....and wow, I was spoilt with a cake complete with candles after our delicious dinner.
We stayed in one of the lovely cottages. It was well equipped, clean and beautifully decorated.
We booked a horse riding trip for the next morning and although I had never been on a horse before, I was able to ride quite competently on a horse called "Tequila". The guide was always close by to ensure a safe ride.
We were able to enjoy a romantic picnic at one of the many picnic spots set up on the premises and watched the sunset from this point. The beach is private and totally safe.
We have vowed to return to this lovely romantic place.
This hidden gem is well tucked away along a gravel road which is a few Kms from anywhere. Once you get there you will appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings adding to the 'get away from it all' feel.
We'll appointed rooms and helpful staff together with great food make this a great place for a few days or longer.
Unfortunately, our schedule only allowed us to spend 1 night, but we greatly appreciated the personalized service, the calm and relaxing environment, the lovely beach, the nature walks, the horse riding through the dunes and along the beach. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable, the only suggestion being that the lighting could be a bit brighter.
The lodge is quite remote (quite some Km of dirt track to get there), but this is one of its charms.
If you like nature, space, long beaches, big waves, ... you'll like Oyster Bay lodge. The quality of the rooms is excellent. The food is very good and the service appropriate. We warmly recommand Oyster Bay lodge
We stayed 4 nights in one of cabins, next to the pond with swingchair (super!) and sea view. Although we had some rain, we never got the chance to bore ourselves. The place is simply amazing, the remote setting with own beach, boma, walking trails, swimming pool, the horses, the dune ride and not to forget the great staff and good food every night. Even the breakfast was a treat! Do not worry about the dirt road to the lodge because with our regular toyota corrola it was a piece of cake. If you can afford it, opt for the cabins because it gives that extra something to your stay. Enjoy!
Myself and my wife stayed here on our honeymoon last April. There was only ourselves and the guys guys running the place. we had an amazing meal and had a good few jars with them afterwards. As it is so long since, I have forgotten their names, but we all had a great night, and I could not speak highly enough of the OBL. A really amazing place and a must if you are near. Dont be put off by the road way down. Its long alright, but well worth the trip.
