Fair Trade Tourism and now us, encourage and publicize fair and responsible business practice.
This status was achieved through Fair Trade's certification program. This endorsed us as an establishment and also means that Oyster Bay Lodge met stringent criteria. The criteria included:
The concept of Fair Trade Tourism, is to make tourism more sustainable. Meaning that people who contribute their land, resources, labor and knowledge to tourism are reaping the benefits. Tourists are then informed about responsible tourism and are then able to make an informed decision about where or what they would like to participate in.
The Fair Trade Tourism Certified label is an internationally recognized label.
Selecting a Fair Trade Tourism-certified business also assures you that your holiday benefits local communities and economies, and that the business you have chosen is operated ethically in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.
